Google Cleans up Adsense Network

Well it seems the buzz currently going around online in forums and newsletters is that Google has been working away with a team, looking at websites where adsense is published.

We know a while back they were getting heavy on those who were abusing the whole adsense network using arbitrage methods by implementing their google slaps on adwords accounts.

Well now they have gone a step further and have been contacting numerous adsense account holders and have sent emails which apparently say

" Our specialists have determined you have an unsuitable business model ", their account has been closed within two weeks.. and for those unfortunate enough to have that happen have gracefully been allowed to keep their earnings earned up to then.

Now this shouldn’t come as a shock as being honest there are a lot of terrible websites out there that are totally abusing the whole adsense.

Sure 99% of internet marketers in the year 2004 and 2005 were heavily using page generators and earning anywhere from $5000 to over $10,000 a month but late 2005 and on saw a major step up by the search engines in de-indexing sites like that or not allowing them to be ranked very high.

This is what Jensense said " Right now, I have only heard from those doing either "Made for AdSense" style of sites or those doing arbitrage, and it does include publishers making significant money per month ($10,000 USD and higher). So they are not giving a pass to those who are earning above a certain threshold. And it seems that no one who is outside of the arbitrage/MFA area of AdSense earnings has been affected thus far."

This has left only those who have quality websites left to profit from adsense.

I have a good feeling that Google will be looking not only at those crappy websites you arrive at through adwords where all their are is links but they will be looking at blogs which are auto generated, spewing out nothing more than rehashed rss feeds, or free articles.

So what does this mean to you other than running fast to get a clean pair of underpants ;)

Well..good chance is you probably dont play the arbitrage game.. its a silly one anyway… but to be on the safe side.. revisit all your websites, old and new.. ones that are sitting out their in cyberspace doing nothing.. the ones you may have created like in 2004 and on wards

1. Check each of your sites, be sure that you dont have adsense on a website which you know full well is total crap. i.e its a Thin affiliate website, lacking content or frequent updates.

2. Check each of your sites for where you have placed adsense. Have you placed it under headings which could make you look like your trying to get people to click? If so move the adsense somewhere else.

3. I would go as far as to say… if you find any old sites which you have adsense on which are crap and you know they are thin sites… remove the adsense from them.. just have adsense on your quality websites, the ones which you know are constantly updated, where the site is bringing value to consumers and not just being used as a tool to get another click.

Guys… Adsense is a nice income model that Google has provided.. Im actually thankful that Google are stepping up.. as it means less sites will be out there which are nothing more than links.

For some this is going to require setting aside maybe a 24hr window and cleaning up your websites. But better that you do it… than google does it for you ;) and you no longer are in the Adsense Network.
