How a Scraped Site Led to Me Getting $39.99 Flowers and Chocolates for Free

Ok at the best of times, Affiliate Programs that really are good come far and few, its sad but there usually is a lot of companies either that dont pay, or they pay late or their affiliate manger never gets in contact with you, or the affiliate program thinks they are doing you a favour by allowing you to promote them.. Like.. give me a break. Anyway… Here Listen to what happened this week

Strange Call from Someone I dont Know

This week I got a phone call from a lady respresenting a flower company apparently she had come across one of my websites. A valentines website in the search engines and she wanted to know if it was mine.. immediately im thinking.. Uh Oh.. they only valentine website I have was a page generated one that I had created back in January 2005.. ( when I was messing with page generators) I havent touched the thing since..

So sheepishly I said .. Oh that website yah.. I believe that is one of mine. Im thinking.. Oh why didnt I take that site down lol ) . In the next pause I was waiting for her to say.. right well " Get my link of your site you Dog Sucking $&%*%(#) " .. You know because those page generated sites had a lot of scraped material. but instead she said..

Would you consider joining our affiliate program and placing our creatives on your site or join our wholesale program. IM like.. Wheeeeeeewwww.. lol Well it depends I guess what is your site. So she mentioned her company site ( I wont mention it for now.. I want to test it out, if its crap.. I dont want people saying.. hey Jon that affiliate program was crap that you recommended ) 

Anyway.. she pretty much took the lead on the phone and said.. this is what we are going to do. I will send you some of our Flowers overnight so you can see the product and I will get you setup with an account… Im like.. …wow pretty impressive..

Suprising Gift in the Mail

So sure enough this afternoon a fedex man arrived at the door and handed me a large box.. Inside was flowers, a vase, a box of chocolates, a thankyou card and a yellow package with details of their affiliate and wholesale program. You can view the pic up the top.

Now bloody hell.. why cant all affiliate programs be like this lol.. I am still waiting for BMW or Porsche to phone me  and offer to send me one of their cars

Now how about that..? this was from some crappy scraped site .. I havent made one of these sites since like February time 2005.. as I have had a ton of other things on my plate but not only did that site produce and still is producing some adsense revenue, it has managed to site high enough in the search engines to get noticed by some company, who ended up sending bloody flowers to me lol..

So what now?

Well I will be placing links on my site to them and checking out their wholesale and affiliate program. run some tests through adwords and overture on a new site for them and see how well they convert. If they are any good I will let you know.. as so far I have been pretty impressed with how they have treated me and I haven’t even made one sale for them yet, or placed a link on my site. Now that is what I call a good start to an Affiliate Program Relationship I wish they were all like that.
